Why We Should Be Worried + Who is Affected?

Climate change and rising sea will destroy lots of utilities and civilizations. As water moves more inland, it can cause contamination of aquifers and soil as well as farm land. Hundreds of millions of people living in coastal areas would have to abandon their homes as the land is flooded and eroded. Habitats of many animals will be demolished, particularly the wetlands in Florida. Wetlands are home to large and diverse ecosystems. The Everglades and other wetlands are close to the shore in Florida. When sea levels rise, salt water could flood the Everglades and destroy the habitat of birds, alligators, turtles, and panthers. Along with all of this, there may be shorter seasons for other cold weather sports, like skiing, snowboarding, outdoor ice skating, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. Some ski resorts might have to close because of climate change. The owners would get no money, and customers would not be able to play. Essentially, no one would win.

Rising sea levels will affect millions of people and building along coastal communities. Rising sea levels have already sealed the fate of at least 316 coastal American cities. Coral reefs are dying also, due to the warmer waters and the less pure and clean water. If coral reefs are destroyed, then many fish and other organisms will lose their home. Also, fish are starting to move to different areas due to warmer water. This ruins the culture of many communities and also takes away a vital source of food. As the temperature rises, colder habitats will be gone and certain animals will no longer have a habitat to live in. Climate change will continue to impact more and more peoples and habitats over time, and must be stopped as soon as possible.
